Beautiful Presentation

The editorial review is right about the content, but I like this book especially for the presentation. The author knows how to create a lovely book -- illustrations, side bars, etc. are used well to enhance and clarify the material. The examples and stories are also excellent and there for a reason. This book works well and is a pleasure to use.

If you want to be an ethical practictioner, then get the more recent edition!

If you are planning on being a current, practicing BCBA, then DO NOT GET THIS EDITION. It is not up-to-date with the latest code. The ethical code was revamped in 2016, so you should get the current edition, the 3rd edition.

Obviously, if you don't care about the changes in the code, then this book is fine. These authors do a great job getting the message across in an easy to understand way. But I highly recommend the new edition if you are practicing in the field.

Essential reading for future BCBAs!

If you plan to work toward becoming a BCBA, you MUST get this book! It is essential that all BCBAs know and understand their ethical responsibilities and how to handle some of the ethical challenges that can come about in the course of practice. A bit thick, terminology-wise, but it is geared toward graduate-level students so that is to be expected.

As a masters student in Behavior Analysis, this book is very helpful, and required. It gave many scenarios that were easy to follow and helped clarify some confusion. Definitely worth getting, especially if you are considering sitting for the BACB exam, as there are ethics questions on that test.

Peters' Curse is a Success

What could prompt gentlewoman Amelia (Peabody) Emerson to leave behind her young son and comfortable Victorian lifestyle to perform manual labor halfway around the world? - A love for Egyptology and a promising archeological site, of course. As the narrator and protagonist of Elizabeth Peters' The Curse of the Pharaohs, Peabody urges her husband, renowned archeologist Radcliffe Emerson, to accept Lady Baskerville's offer to head an excavation project outside Luxor. After leaving her son, affectionately nicknamed Ramses, with her in-laws, Peabody and Emerson are off to the land of the Pharaohs. .... .... Not being a fan of detective novels, I am surprised by my enjoyment of The Curse of the Pharaohs. I have never read a work by Elizabeth Peters before, but I am eager to acquire more of her novels. Peters' use of sandy Luxor and the mystery of the Ancient World breathes life into cliché whodunnits. Peters' characters are both suspicious and endearing. Particularly touching is the relationship between Peabody and Emerson. The reader envies their personal and professional partnership. The colorful descriptions and personal insights revealed by the narrator give each character a three-dimensional quality, no small feat in a narration. As a student of Egyptology, I can appreciate the knowledgeable references to Ancient Egypt throughout the novel. I think that both those experienced in and those new to Egyptian history will find the work fascinating. The mystery inherent in Egyptian tombs and pyramids serves as the perfect backdrop for a crime-solver. I fully enjoyed this novel and sincerely recommend it to all!

FUN FUN and more FUN!

The first book in the series seemed to be more of an introduction to the characters ~~ this book is more meatier and fun. This one has another mystery for Amelia to solve. This time, she and Emerson, her husband, traveled back to Egypt at the request of an old friend, Lady Baskerville. Her husband was found dead at a tomb of an old Pharaoh ~~ yet to be identified. Then his assistant was missing. The attacks keep coming and even the natives refused to work for her since they believed that the Tomb was cursed.

Once they arrived, Emerson and Amelia were busy fending off the attacks as well as solving the mystery of the tomb and the identity of the murderer. It's a faster-paced novel than her first one ~~ and more characters were introduced. Peters keep you guessing on who the identity of the murderer is till the end of the book.

This is another fun novel ~~ I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves to read mysteries. It's pure clean fun and speculation. It's also a perfect series to read over the summer as well (or anytime!).

Praise for Amelia Peabody! Indiana Jones, watch out!

Elizabeth Peters wrote this amazing novel with her usual genius and bubbling enthusiasm. My tremendous acclaiming to her as a master crime fictionist is unduly deserved. Extreme effort and care went into planning a superb, informed storyline. Amelia Peabody is a character never short of being as impetuous and headstrong as D'Artagnan before the storming of La Rochelle, but at the same time, she is full of hilarious acumen and perception, always shooting back with clever remarks and sharp retorts, and never once releasing hold of her immeasurably calm nature. Emerson, her charming, handsome husband, is the very picture of an impatient, devilishly arrogant Englishman, but behind doors, his tender sentimentality is an attribute I'm sure (ahem) Amelia greatly appreciates. The novel moved at a suspenseful pace, every turn and every bump leading up to a murderous climax. This book was masterful. I really enjoyed it. I advise it to anyone who loves to solve puzzles.

About the Author

Holly Willoughby is best known for her presenting roles on This Morning, Surprise Surprise and Celebrity Juice. After she was discovered by Storm Modelling Agency on a school trip at the age of 14, she quickly went on to land modelling jobs and presenting roles for various CiTV children’s programmes, all before becoming the co-presenter of Dancing on Ice with Philip Schofield. Juggling her busy television career with being a mum to her three small children, she is also the co-author of a series of children’s books with her sister, Kelly.

This book has a pretty cover. That's it! The content doesn't give you what you need as a new mom. Some part is copied from other successful baby books, such as Gina Ford's The New Contented Little Baby Book. But this one is dangerous because it doesn't give you an explanation about different scenarios. Sending this book back! The author seems like a child herself. Can't trust her experience!

Soooooo, I bought this book for my lovely soon-to-be-a-mum friend! Who absoloutly loves it. No doubts my friend status has peaked since giving her this gift. Happy Baby is easy to read, down to earth and friendly. Yup, "friendly" - no pretension, no fancy-shmancy intimidating text. Instead it's handy, practical and very ( very) friendly and authentic...plus gorgeous baby pictures which have left me somewhat broody... ( me next! ).

Through his work developing technical assistance programs for the Roosevelt administration during World War II, his business ventures (primarily agricultural production and food retailing), and his postwar founding of the nonprofit American International Association, Rockefeller hoped to demonstrate how U.S. capitalists could nurture entrepreneurial spirit and work successfully with government agencies in Latin America to encourage economic development and improve U.S.-Latin American relations. Ultimately, however, he overestimated the ability of the United States, through public or private endeavors, to promote Latin American economic, political, and social change.

This objective account paints a portrait of Rockefeller not as the rapacious, exploitative figure of stereotype, but as a man fueled by idealism and humanitarian concern as well as ambition.

The Missing Piece In The Venezuelan History Puzzle

Read this book after reading Titan (about Nelson's famous grandfather, John D.) to see what the grandson of a legend would do with his money and hunger for getting out of the legendary oilman's shadow. So he came to Venezuela and made a pretty substantial effort to kickstart our inexistent economy. But he hit a wall as Venezuela transitioned from a nascent democracy into one more affected by the sweeping Latin American leftism and anti-Americanism. Very grateful with Darlene to have written this wonderful (cautionary) tale about doing business involving a significant cultural divide.

NR and his family were benefactors,probably the greatest in Venezuelan history. If you want to know what it was like in Venezuela back then,you ought to read this book.
When I was in Venezuela,my Dad often spoke of them,in almost reverent terms. As far as he was concerned,they were saints of the highest caliber.

Very good Intro to the Bhagavad Gita

I really like this book. I have been wanting to become more familiar with the Gita for a long time. I love how this book is easy to read and understand for someone just learning about Eastern Traditions and Philosophy.You dont have to be Hindu or Buddist to understand that the leasons and truths can be used by anyone from any type or religious/nonreligious background. Great read!

Most Powerful Book

There is no book on the market to help individuals with stress that can and will lead to health problems. I have been a patient of Dr. Ceaser for over 30 years now. Today, I travel several hundreds of miles to just keep an appointment with him. He is an excellent if not superb medical doctor who actually cares for his patients. His main objective is to help, care and instruct on the human body and its functions by teaching the patient about the power of the mind and body and how to reduce stressors in your life through positive energy. Affirmations are wonderful. Your mind is an amazing tool that controls your body. This Affirmation book deals with many stressors that can help you get through your difficulties and can solve most of your illnesses. I am forever grateful for this book. I purchased this book and downloaded to my tablet. I carry my tablet everywhere I go. Whenever I'm up against the everyday life that challenge your mind and body, I pull out my tablet and recite a particular affirmation. It works.

Darn it actually helped, go figure

I was told to read this book by the author who is my internist. I went to him because not only is he a MD but a natualpath and I am so sick of all of the medications I am on. He told me to tell him what my ills were and I let the poor fellow have it.

I discussed the chronic pain and the anxiety and fear issues. He had me read this book. I thought - hooey just another hustle. It was originally 99.00 To me that is super much. It was not at library and had just came out. I read the parts he told me about. Fear, anxiety, pain etc
I am scared of lots of stuff: Dogs - I met up face to face with a barking pitbull and german shepard. I was scared, but I chanted, calmed down and just walked away. - normally I would have freaked out
It helps to go over the anxiety and fear part before driving, I have a fear of driving on highways but needed to so it help me alleviate a lot of the anxiety I normally feel ( I would have panic attacks but no more) I actually enjoyed the journey for the first time since the problem started 9 years ago. Swimming - Ms terrified of water took a swim class, when I got nervous and thought about what I should say to myself and got through it

I am not miraculously cured, sorry Shelly, but the affirmations are like self hypnosis, and they actually worked. I whined at the cost but seeing that they helped more than 2 years in seeing a 125 a 45 minute session therapist, I am more than super pleased.

Not just for us anxiety prone folks but there is something for everyone. I give it a whole hearted recommendation. Please try it, it costs no more than a movie ticket and popcorn and it may change your life for the better. So simple and effective,
kinda pissed that I didnt have it 9 years ago.

These powerful healing affirmations are truly no joke!

One of the nice things about this book is you can take the powerful affirmation presented on the outside back cover for a test drive, before you purchase the book! After reciting the affirmation that she had chosen, and then feeling the positive shift in her body and mind, a friend who is a popular minister/teacher/counselor said in impressed astonishment "These affirmations are truly no joke!"

Let me tell you, if you are interested in seeing yourself and others enter rapidly, easily and greatly into a thought/belief mode that readily supports healing; then you have got to recite and share the affirmations found in this book titled "The Most Powerful Book of Affirmations Ever Written by Sheldon T. Ceaser M.D."

I am telling you...for less than the cost of one of Dr. Ceaser's office visits, I know because I checked, this M.D.'s book gives you one or more energetically powerful affirmation(s) for supporting the healing process of almost any health (mind, body, spirit and emotions) related issue you can think of; each plainly indexed in the table of contents of the book. Even the children that I work with could follow and benefit positively from these beautifully expressed words. We all have heard that words have great power: They can wound or they can heal! Words/beliefs can change matter on the quantum level according to some new quantum science research. The penetrating word-understandings in Dr. Sheldon T. Caeser's affirmations are truly infused with the quantum energetic vibrations of "the healing force"; thus having far greater power than mere positive words or statements. The powerful affirmations in this book seem to go beyond the conscious mind; by-passing it and permeating deep into the subconscious and perhaps even genetic memories for impressively positive results.

A REAL FIND.

I haven't read any other of this authors works but I will definitely be buying more of his books, this was great! The style of writing is very engaging with none of that awful occultist ego stuff that is so off-putting.I always think that it is the mark of a very inteligent person when they can condense their knowledge and explain it in a way that someone with no knowledge of the subject can understand, and the author does that very well.The magck is simple and effective(I felt Hecate's prescence very clearly) and the author states that his intention is to give more of a manual or 'how to' instructions rather than a treatise but even so I learnt alot about Hecate and about magickal practice according to the chaos magick perspective.I am very glad to have found this authors works and I hope they gain the recognition they should,give it a try.

Nessa Carey is a visiting professor at Imperial College in London and currently works in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, where she has specialized in epigenetics for nearly a decade. Great science book!

This is one of those books that introduces an entirely new and fascinating topic. A similar work would be Chaos: Making a New Science which introduced the concepts of chaotic dynamical systems at a time when even many practitioners of the sciences would not have heard of it.

Similarly, this book introduces the discoveries in epigenetics (epi- meaning "on", or a layer on top of classical genetics) and pretty much all of this will be new information unless you have been actively working in the field of cell biology over the past few years.

The book talks about the paradigm shift that is occurring as cell biologists are realizing that this epigenetic information is as complex and important to the correct function of life as the underlying DNA genome, and even allows for Lamarckian inheritance in certain cases where an offspring's own epigenetic information and phenotype can be influenced by that of the parents, meaning that some environmental effects in a parent's life can directly influence future generations.

Also much of the non-protein-coding genome that for many years was considered to be unimportant "junk" is now turning out to be very important as it can be transcribed into functional RNA molecules that perform important functions. The book contains a simple graphic showing that the ratio of the non-protein-coding DNA to that of traditional protein coding genes increases in direct proportion with the complexity of the organism. The fundamental genes and proteins between say a chimpanzee and a human are virtually identical and it now begins to look as though it's that "junk" DNA that makes all the difference.

This is a fascinating look at recent developments in the ever-accelerating biological revolution and I highly recommend it to everyone who yearns to understand how life works.

Could hardly be more fascinating!

Word of warning - I may gush! I'm no biologist, but Nessa Carey manages to make epigenetics clear and incredibly interesting to me. This is not an easy read, in that it requires one to think and occasionally to do a little mental gymnastics to get one's head around the concepts she introduces, but nevertheless it's the kind of book that can be gulped down in large servings because Carey is skilled at explaining these high-falutin' concepts so well.

The topics range from inherited traits to cloning and back again, and I found even the descriptions of how certain experiments were undertaken were such that they read incredibly well. This is a book that could havebeen dry as dust, but it's not.

I think probably one where the time taken to read the sample is well spent - I'm sure some people just won't find this that interesting - but if you are at all interested in science, biology, DNA, and the mystery of how things are and aren't passed on, then this is a must read. Absorbing, educational, and downright fascinating. Brilliant.

Simple, but not simplistic

I am writing as a person with a graduate degree in Bioinformatics with a special interest in epigenetics, and I can confidently say that this is one of the clearest introductory presentations of epigenetics that I have encountered. The book is written at the undergraduate level, but it is not simplistic. It hits all the high points of epigenetics and pulls together the latest in research into this fascinating area of science. Anyone with a rudimentary background in genetics should have no trouble absorbing the concepts articulated in this book.
