Comprehensive Book with Practical Advice for Staying Safe While Traveling Abroad

As an American currently living abroad with my family(for the past 3 years), I can personally attest to the usefulness of the information in this book. It is specifically written to Americans who are concerned about their personal security while traveling abroad and offers some fantastic tips for cautious travelers, but the principles really apply anywhere.

I found the book to be well organized with lists and outlines that will help readers to remember what is being taught. The advice is practical and realistic. The author is very descriptive and it is easy to get drawn into the example situations that are laid out as teaching aids.

It was disappointing that the kindle version of this book lacks a linked TOC, but you can flip directly from chapter to skip around in the book. The end of each chapter also contains a detailed list of references. I wish the author linked up those books to amazon links also.

Overall, this book contains absolutely essential information for the traveler who wants to stay safe. This is a must read!

Even though this book is written for OCONUS travel, I feel that the information contained within the book can help anyone heighten their sense of self/ environmental awareness. Mr. Emerson hit the ball out of the park with this book and made me realize a lot of issues that go unnoticed to the general public on a daily basis. I would recommend this to anyone who will be traveling OCONUS or anyone who is simply interested in learning about a new subject/ topic.

Nurse Hitomi is back and with her all seeing eye and gentle heart taking on a bunch of new students, From the high flying rebel girl, a boy who grows breasts, to the girl who eats everything, and almost anybody. Not only this, but she helps her fellow teachers as well, from furry Mojoi, to the art teacher whose hair moves on its own and has a thing for our lovely nurse. These stories and more are here in the next issue of the Monster Infirmary.

I am enjoying this series. Its lighter than 12 beast or Monster Masume and shows that even monster children have issues just like normal people. A must read for fans of the monster series

We went to Milan and the Lakes last year. This, as are all DK books, is a wonderful visual presentation of the area. They are also great books for dreamers, who just don't travel, but dream of the day they will. I think there are better tour books that provide more details on hotels/restaurants/transportation, etc., but you cannot get the visual feel of a place any better than through the DK books. I always supplement the DK books with a Steves' or Fodor book, as those books do provide down to earth, necessary details for a trip. If you are investing in a dream vacation, buy this book as well as another - these books, even after the trip, will provide visual memories that no other travel book can.

Nice Book

A lot packed into a little book. There's a lot to see in the Milan area and a lot of history outside of the main Galleria area, which is not covered as well as could be in book. Nonetheless, the history and ideas were helpful. My suggestion is read through the book and organize your visit to the area as the majority of the sites are downtown; from there, your travels to the lakes, etc., will take some planning.

This book was updated for 2013, so it has the latest info on Milan. Of course, the pictures and illustrations that come with all DK books make it a most enjoyable reference tool. The slim design makes it ideal for traveling.
